What if growth catches you by surprise?

The customer knows the application. A technology partner brings the specialist expertise. The best results come when these two perspectives meet before the solution is fixed.

Do you need to know everything yourself?

Growth rarely follows a plan.

It can start with a sudden increase in enquiries, tighter project schedules and a growing order book. Without the right preparation, good news can quickly turn into pressure.

Most businesses hope for growth. What is much harder to predict is when it will happen.

When demand finally starts to pick up, things can move quickly. More resources are needed, capacity comes under pressure, and new suppliers may need to be brought on board. Decisions have to be made fast because customers are not prepared to wait.

Growth is good news. Pressure is not.

What will slow you down first?

The first obstacle to growth is not always production capacity.

Sometimes it is a task that depends on one key person. Sometimes it is a solution that has to be redesigned for every project. Sometimes it is specialised expertise that cannot be accessed quickly enough.

Under normal workloads, these issues may go unnoticed. As demand increases, however, small inefficiencies can quickly become bottlenecks.

That is why the important question is not only when growth will happen.

Being prepared does not mean scaling up in advance

Preparing for growth does not mean hiring additional people or making major investments before they are needed.

Readiness can also come from understanding which activities should remain in-house and where external expertise or additional capacity could provide support. It is also worth considering whether current solutions can handle higher volumes without increasing workload at the same rate.

Not everything needs to be done in advance. But not everything should be left until the pressure is on.

A technical question comes up during a project, but no one has an immediate answer. One person starts looking for information, another compares products and a third asks others about their experiences. Then the budget enters the discussion...
