Online tool for customised spiral cables

Spiral cables are uniquely elastic and flexible. They can withstand countless extension movements, do not wear out and always return to their original shape. Despite the gradual disappearance of corded telephones, spiral cables remain indispensable in many industrial areas due to their valuable extension and retraction properties. Depending on the cable structure and outer sheath material, they can also withstand harsh conditions and are therefore used in a wide range of industries.

You haven't found the right spiral cable for your application among the standard spiral cables? Then use the option to configure an application-specific spiral cable with just a few clicks.

For no cost at all and without registering

Use the filters to find the right cable with the right properties for you among all spiralisable articles.  Get a meticulously crafted spiral cable made to measure that you won't find in any catalogue!

Configuration options

1. Define cable properties

  • Conductor cross-section (from 0.14 mm2 to 6.0 mm2)
  • Number of cores
  • Sheath colour

Now select the cable you want to spiral from the different variants of robust power and control cables, low-frequency data cables or sensor/actuator cables.

2. Specify spiralisation preferences

  • Extension length or closed length to be achieved
  • Spiralisation direction per cable end
  • Stripping length per cable end

Background knowledge

What are the areas of application for spiral cables?

Extension and retraction are unique cable properties that are valued in many industrial sectors, especially in the lighting industry, electrical appliance manufacturing and robotics. When retracted, spiral cables are perfect where space is limited. They are used as power cables for electrical appliances, as control cables for conveyor devices and for data and signal transmission.

Can any cable be spiralised?

Not every cable can become a spiral cable. Cables with flexible stranded conductors that do not break are suitable. The cables should also allow small minimum bending radii and not have excessively wide outer diameters. They must be particularly elastic so that they do not form cracks during extension/retraction and can also withstand the heat that acts on them during the spiralisation process. The cables must of course be mechanically robust and function reliably even after spiralisation.

What do the specifications for extension length and closed length mean?

The Extension length describes the dimension of the spiral cable when it is wound up, without excessive tension. The extension length is therefore the maximum working length of the cable. The solid length on the other hand, describes the dimension in a relaxed, i.e. contracted, state. It provides information on how compact an unused cable is.
