Finlandia Hall renovation towards modern elegance

Finlandia Hall, a cultural building owned by the City of Helsinki and designed by architect Alvar Aalto 50 years ago, is undergoing a major renovation. The main building is being refurbished to meet today’s requirements while respecting preservation principles and maintaining its impressive interiors. Accessibility, elevator connections, and energy efficiency are being improved, and building systems are updated to meet modern standards. The City of Helsinki is responsible for the renovation of this protected building, with Skanska Oy as the contractor. The goal is to preserve Finlandia Hall’s significant cultural heritage and provide even better facilities and services for residents and visitors. The building remains open to customers through temporary facilities and will reopen in early 2025.

Quattroservices Oy: part of the Finlandia Hall renovation project

Petri Railakari, Project Manager at Quattroservices Oy, describes the extensive renovation project at Finlandia Hall, which has been substantial and lasted over two and a half years.
"In practice, the building’s exterior has been preserved, but the entire interior has undergone a thorough renewal. Building systems, including AV technology, have been completely replaced, and the project has been carried out under the requirements of a protected site, supervised by the Finnish Heritage Agency."
