New Requirements for Machine Safety

EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230
As of 20 January 2027, all machinery placed on the market must comply with the requirements of the new EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230. Hetronic radio remote control systems have been designed from the outset to support safe wireless operation, reliable redundancy, and the implementation of safety functions.
Benefits of Hetronic radio remote controls:
- Safe wireless control
- Reliable architecture
- Software version traceability
- Customisable for different machines and applications
- Supports compliance with new safety requirements
Under the new regulation, a radio remote control system may be considered a safety component if it participates in the execution of a safety function, such as stopping a machine when communication between the transmitter and receiver is lost. When properly selected and integrated, Hetronic radio controls can support the achievement of required safety performance levels. However, the final performance level is always determined through an application-specific risk assessment and the integration of the radio control system into the machine's overall control system.
For applications requiring higher safety levels, Hetronic offers solutions such as the Nova-C equipped with the C21 encoder, with the new Tactus 2.8 set to expand the portfolio in the near future.
