EPIC® SENSORS Tailored Temperature Measurement Solutions
When a Standard Solution Is Not Enough
LAPP Automaatio manufactures EPIC® SENSORS temperature sensors for demanding and standard measurement applications in industry and OEM manufacturing. Example of a Tailored Solution
Our customer needed a solution for more accurate monitoring of temperature increase at the bottom section of a chemical industry reactor without adding new thermowells or process penetrations. In addition, a large number of measurement points was required to enable fast and accurate monitoring of the chemical reaction as it progressed during reactor start-up.
To meet this need, we developed a multipoint thermocouple sensor featuring 10 Type K measurement points inside a four-metre-long tube with a diameter of 4.5 mm. The sensors could be installed through existing penetrations, eliminating the need for modifications to the reactor. Installed in four reactors, the solution provided a total of 40 measurement points in the critical area. Based on a sensor design long used in the steel industry, the solution was customized for demanding chemical industry applications through material selection and structural modifications.
