What if the right answer comes from outside your team?

The customer knows the application. A technology partner brings the specialist expertise. The best results come when these two perspectives meet before the solution is fixed.

Do you need to know everything yourself?

A technical question comes up during a project, but no one has an immediate answer.

One person starts looking for information, another compares products and a third asks others about their experiences. Then the budget enters the discussion.

Before long, several working days have been spent on a single decision, even though the same expertise may only be needed once.

Not every question has to be answered in-house. Sometimes it makes more sense to bring in the right expertise when it is needed.

The right time is before the decision

An expert can add the most value while the options are still open.

As a project progresses, factors such as available space, design, materials, connections and approval requirements begin to narrow those options. Once the solution has been decided, there may be little left to do beyond making it work in practice.

An earlier discussion leaves room to compare different approaches, identify potential constraints and avoid unnecessary work later.

This does not mean involving an expert at every stage of the project. What matters is recognising the decisions where additional knowledge can genuinely influence the outcome.

A good solution requires two kinds of knowledge

The customer knows the application. A technology partner brings the specialist expertise needed to turn that knowledge into a practical solution.

Neither perspective is enough on its own. A working solution is found when knowledge of the application and technical expertise are brought together early enough.

You do not have to know it all.

Expertise does not have to sit within your own team for you to benefit from it.

Are there decisions in your project that could benefit from another perspective?
